Gifted and talented

At Beacon Hill students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of enrichment programs. These include, but are not limited to:

  • District and area debating
  • Public speaking competitions
  • Chess club
  • Band
  • Chamber orchestra
  • Choir
  • Dance groups
  • Drama
  • Maths Olympiad
  • Forest High Extension classes
  • International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS). University NSW awards medals to top scoring students in English, mathematics, science, spelling, writing and computer.
  • Sport trials and competitions for individuals and teams
  • Young Scientist Awards.

Involvement in these programs may be suited to particular age groups and available spaces.

All classes have students who benefit from extension work in a number of key learning areas. Our professional teachers cater for all students in a variety of ways, including specialised groups within the class and/or grade and enrichment classes which are created when there are enough children to form a multi-aged or composite class.
